Correction on k3b review

Oops, I made a bit of a mistake in my entry regarding the review pitting NeroLinux vs K3b. I wrote: “Especially when compared to k3b, which has been out long enough to have been turned into a highly-polished piece of software. As soon as k3b adds support for m3u playlists, it’ll be perfect.”

Turns out that k3b does support m3u playlists. But the playlists need to have the string #EXTM3U as the first line in the file. Without the line, k3b returns error “unsupported file type.” With #EXTM3U as the first line, k3b correctly interprets the playlist and adds all tracks in the playlist to the track list for the new audio CD project. This is ultra-cool; it’s exactly the way that things should work.

Still, I never would’ve figured out that the #EXTM3U was needed had I not had a playlist saved from XMMS which worked in k3b. Is #EXTM3U part of the standard for m3u files? I dunno, but obviously the k3b team believes it is. And who am I to question them?
