XFCE bug - xfdesktop crashes on right-click

September 27th, 2008

I’ve been struggling for a while with an issue in XFCE (my favorite desktop environment). If I right-clicked on a blank spot on my desktop (and my desktop is always blank: I don’t do icons/shortcuts on my desktop), xfdesktop would crash. No errors, no information, just a core. I finally had time to search for this issue this morning, and it turns out that this is a known bug. Fortunately, there is also any easy work-around: In Settings Manager -> Desktop -> Behavior, check the “Show desktop menu on right-click” option. Voila!
